The West-Eastern Divan Trust UK
The West-Eastern Divan Trust UK is a registered charity established in September 2011 in response to the great support the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra has received from its many friends in Great Britain.
Its purpose is, to quote from its bylaws, "the promotion of religious and ethnic harmony and the promotion of dialogue and reconciliation for the public benefit by:
(a) advancing education and raising awareness about different religious and ethnic groups to promote good relations between persons of different ethnic groups;
(b) working towards the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of religion or race; and
(c) promoting knowledge and mutual understanding between different religious and ethnic groups through artistic and cultural endeavours by the support of such charitable activities of the Daniel Barenboim Stiftung, Germany and West-Eastern Divan Orchestra as Trustees shall think fit."
To achieve its goals, the West-Eastern Divan Trust UK will work closely with its international partner institutions, the Daniel Barenboim Stiftung, the Fundación Barenboim-Said and the Barenboim-Said Foundation USA.
